A dominating force the plug-in hybrid market is the 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid, a front wheel drive sedan that can haul a family of five without breaking the bank thanks to its excellent gas mileage.
Let’s start with what’s happening under the hood. The 2018 Honda Clarity comes with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor; together, the hybrid system pumps out 181 horsepower. Its 17 kWh battery pack can be recharged in only 2.5 hours by using a 240-volt Level 2 charger. There’s also a 6.6 kW onboard 32-amp charger. The Clarity is so easy to use you can plug it in to charge from the comfort on your own home.
Customizing the Clarity is simple, as there are six available exterior colors. Added style comes from its 18-inch alloy wheels and all-season tires, perfect for making a bold statement.
The 2018 Clarity offers two trims: the Plug-in Hybrid and the Touring. Both trims have Honda Sensing®, an advanced safety system with Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Collision Mitigation Braking System. The heated front seats come standard on both trims as well, while power-operated leather seats and a navigation system are available on the Touring.
The standard HondaLink system features an 8-inch display touch screen with a USB port, 12-volt power outlets, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay™, and Android Auto™. Safety is a top priority on the 2018 Clarity with options like brake assist, a multi-angle rear view camera for navigation help, push-button auto start, and LED daytime running lights.
The Clarity boasts impressive gas mileage, earning an estimated 44 mpg on the highway and 40 mpg in the city.* Since it’s a plug-in hybrid, the 2018 Honda Clarity can also run on fully electric power. It has a 47-mile all-electric range, or 340-miles when using electric and the backup gas engine.
